Back from a nice vacation and in the process of trying to get back into my daily routine- which will start tomorrow with a prompt visit to the grocery store...

So, as I resettle we're going to do another challenge with a twist. Pick a series from the list:

Transformers
MLP: Friendship is Magic
Mass Effect
JLI
Bat-family
Birds of Prey
Young Justice (comics)
General DCU
Ultimate Spider-Man
Slam Dunk
One Piece
Invader Zim
Fullmetal Alchemist
Red vs Blue
Discworld
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Skip Tracers
human!Wreckers

Series only, please NO CHARACTERS. This is will probably be challenging enough as it.

Pick up a book- preferably the closest one on hand. Go to page 42 and type the 6th sentence. I'll have to make a drabble in your chosen series that uses that sentence.

Let's see how long it takes me to rue this challenge.

Fair enough. *grabs the nearest book*

Umm.. human!Wreckers preferably, but.. this seems a tough one for them.. so, if you get an idea for a different universe, go right ahead...

"Its full of fur and snowflakes and lipstick, but underneath all that, I can feel the steadiness that Peeta brings into everything."

...this was even harder than your last one! XD
---

Broadside kicks himself for the nth-hundredth time, carefully minding the bundle in his thick arms. It's full of fur and snowflakes and lipstick, but underneath all that, he can feel the steadiness that Xantium brings into everything. Even though she's beyond the point of shivering even with the clothing piled on her, even though they had expected the party to be an ambush yet didn't expect that the house was a ship that left them in knee-deep snow drifts, even though Broadside knew it was a stupid fucking idea to let a lifelong stationist take part in a mission on a moon of such extreme colds, she's still grinning up at him with her usual snark and sharp wit. And it keeps Broadside together because if she fell silent or started whimpering about the frost bite she was certain to have, he probably would've been a useless mess of panic.

"Good thing it's only cold," her voice is strained and hoarse in the frozen air, "you'd be dragging me if it were wet."

He just snorts back, trying to will his body heat into her. "You'd probably be only 120 pounds soaking wet."

"Maybe if my bones were hollow." Xantium's hand suddenly shoots out of the fur and grabs- or attempts to -Broadside's jacket. "Do you hear something?"

The large Wrecker looks up and around and surely he sees, sliding over the horizon, a shuttle with lights cutting through the storm. It lands near the two and Topspin is bundling them inside. With Springer, Scoop and Sandstorm already wrapped in dry blankets and pressed close together, Broadside and Xantium were the last to be found. Whirl turns the shuttle around and Topspin tells Broadside to strip, gives him some dry clothing and lays Xantium across an open bench of seats. Her voice is soft but the underlying hint of pain and fear is apparent to those that know and Topspin is unusually quiet as he checks her over.

There, safely surrounded by his squadmates and on the way back home, Broadside finally allows himself to panic.

Appearantly I'm very evil without meaning to be.

I have a failed James Bond sort of scenario in my head, for what lead up to this fic-bit. Somehow, I can imagine that it didn't go very well.

I like how Broadside is professional enough to hold it together, but he still needs support. I'm sure that if Broadside was freaking out, Xantium would loose it too. They're keeping each other sane.
