sophiap for directing me to those scans
Summary: In which Haruhi is still practical and the twins are not.
Haruhi looked at the material, utterly amazed. She found it somewhat ironic, looking closely at the stitching- slightly inconsistent but almost impressively mechanical –that this sort of clothing would cost more than mass produced clothing that’s never touched a living person just because it was hand sown.
Well, she supposed running thumb over the grid-lined yellow material, they spent a lot of time on one outfit, they should get paid for it.
A hand plucked the long jacket from her fingers. “Thank you.” Kaoru slipped the jacket on as Hikaru adjusted his hat before tossing a near identical one- black with a yellow grid band wrapped around it –to his brother. Haruhi noted with some amusement the ties on the band matched the parts in their hair.
“Well?” They asked her, striking a pose. “What do you think?”
She thought having pants go halfway up their torso looked ridiculous. And told them as much. The twins pouted.
“It’s the style! Doesn’t it look cool?”
“Not really.”
The twins exchanged glances. There was just no pleasing some people.
“Aa~ah!” Hikaru said loudly. “After our mother worked so hard on these suits for everyone, too!”
“Doesn’t your mother have people to make these clothes for her.”
“She designed them.”
“They’re all the same suit, just different colors.”
“Ah, but Haruhi,” Kaoru put in, “don’t you think it’s wasteful, having all those people work and no one appreciating it?”
Hikaru’s lips pulled back in a grin. “That’s right. If you have it, you might as well enjoy it.”
“Make them think those long hours was worth it.”
“Well…”
The twins nodded.
“When you put it that way…”
They nodded some more.
“It is kind of neat dressing up like this.” Haruhi admitted.
YES! Just what they were looking for. “We have an outfit for you, too!” They exclaimed, bringing out a box. And they pulled from it…..
A dress.
Figures.
Haruhi gave it a critical look. Such a vibrant red wasn’t really her style (to her knowledge) and the waistline looked more like it was down around the hips and it was made to fit loose all around.
“I can’t wear that.” She said.
“Eh~? Why not?”
“It’s a flapper dress,” she told them. “They were popular in American 1920’s. Everyone here is wearing a zoot suit which was popular in the American 1940’s.” Haruhi shrugged. “It’s not right mixing eras like that, is it?”
“But we stayed up all night figuring out how we wanted to style your hair!”
“Yeah! We even have everything prepared for it!”
They waved to a table that was laded with hair products, combs and trimming scissors. Odd that Haruhi didn’t notice it before.
Haruhi made a face. “I’d rather not. I don’t know how they could stand going around all day with all that stuff on their heads. It looked like their hair was sculpted out of butter.”
There was a pause. Then a snort. Hikaru gave his brother an incredulous look, even though he was fighting a smile himself. “Oi, oi.” He told the laughing twin.
“Sorry, Hikaru! But it does look like that!”
“You’re no fun, Haruhi.” Hikaru sighed at her.
“If fun were easy, you’d just get bored.”
Kaoru just laughed harder, making Hikaru elbow him in the side. He reached up, taking the hat off his head and shoving it onto Haruhi’s, ruffling her hair. “Just get your outfit from Kyoya-senpai.”

Date: 2006-05-15 07:52 pm (UTC)I would like to submit a challenge for Eyeshield 21, for characters of the Ojou White Knights Takami (Quarterback) and Wakana (Manager). I just re-read the match against Poseidon and to my utmost fangirl shame, thought the two looked rather nice together...so no big romance, but just a hint that it could be possible...am I making sense? T_T
Anyway.I'd be happy if you pick my challenge, but completely understand if you find it too odd. In any case thanks for writing such wonderful drabbles. (m(_ _)m).
