Title: Absolutely, Totally, Positively NOT Mother’s Day
Fandom: Bleach RP

Rating: G
Word Count: 277
Characters: Ikkaku
Summary: It really isn’t about Mother’s Day. Really really.
She’s not his mother and Ikkaku knows better than to try to fool himself. She’s not old enough for it and she’s not legally bound to him or Boss (except for renting out a couple floors to them, but that’s just a technicality). So Ikkaku doesn’t do anything for Retsu-nee come Mother’s Day. He doesn’t because she’s not his mother and she doesn’t expect him to think or treat her as one.
And just because Mother’s Day was coming up didn’t have anything to do with Ikkaku telling all the kids at Retsu-nee’s orphanage to pool their money together and reserve an all-day session at some expensive spa on the west end of the street (and Ikkaku and Tetsu and Renji and Ran and Boss pitching in to help totally didn’t count). And Ikkaku only offered to take all those kids on a trip to the zoo so she could enjoy their gift and not because it was on Mother’s Day. And the movie afterwards and dinner and Fudruckers was just because there was no one around to look after the kids- what with Retsu-nee enjoying her Not-Mother’s Day gift and all.
And when Retsu-nee woke him up because Ikkaku was sprawled out on a couch in the orphanage with the kids all crashed out around the TV and around (and some on) him, Ikkaku didn’t grumbled out something vaguely sappy like ‘Happy Mother’s Day’. Because she’s not his mother and they both knew it. So doing something like that was stupid. And pointless.
Right.
Of course, when Retsu-nee laughed like that and dropped a tender kiss on his head, Ikkaku didn’t think he was fooling anybody.
