So this has been kind of dwelling in my head for almost a week- ever since I got caught up with Skypia. There's just something about Zoro and how he cares for the crew that really gets to me.

Title: What is Mine
Fandom: One Piece
Rating: G
Word Count: 274
Characters: Zoro
Summary: I guess crew spoilers up to the end of the Alabastar arc. I guess a character study.

They were orders. From his captain. Orders that were given to him and belonged to him. They were part of his crew, sailed on his ship, watched his back.

Order from his captain that he followed because his dream went down the same road. His ambitions, his goals, his crew, his friends. They all belonged to him and no one were to touch them. All the arguing, all the fighting, all the hate and yelling and insults meant nothing when it came down to the fact that all this- all of it –belonged in some intangible way, to him.

Zoro didn’t hold many things of value, but he could never let them go.

The sniper- as cowardly and loud mouthed as he was- was his sniper. The navigator- sneaky and manipulative –was his navigator. The doctor- naïve, skittish, all-too trusting –was his, just like the smart-mouthed ero-cook and that woman that watched them silent and aloof. They belonged to him because they were all brought under the same flag, manning the same crew, following the same captain. The captain that was flighty and determined and slow and powerful and everything Zoro never knew could coexist together. But that was his captain and it was his orders to protect his fellow crewmen whenever the captain couldn’t.

And because Zoro didn’t hold many things of value, could never let them go, he held them tightly- those that belonged to him. And he fought for them and protected them and bled for them with the same dedication he fought and protected and bled for his dreams.

Because all those that belonged to him will not be harmed.
