Title: The Pain Called Hope
Fandom: Bleach
Rating: G
Word Count: 318
Characters: Byakuya, Hisana
In Response to: Trinity
Summary: Byakuya and painful but necessary habits.
Byakuya stood in the empty room at a loss. It wasn’t often he found this room uninhabited, the elegant presence he could feel through the partition between this room and his work desk. He saw, at the small writing table he had often found Hisana sitting at, an open and unfinished letter and he felt his heart clench.
She wrote, every day, for forgiveness, expounding on her guilt and regret and that letter would join the countless others she kept in her drawer. Byakuya hated those letters just as much he understood why she wrote them. He hated that she relentlessly obscured her purity with such ugliness. He wished he had to courage to stop her from writing, reach out to toss the papers with their cruel, snarling lines into a fire.
“Byakuya-sama. I did not expect you home so early.”
He turned to the sound of Hisana’s voice and watched as she bowed to him, unmarred under the dirt and worn kimono. Nestled next to the letters, he knew, she kept three more kimonos of the kind. Unkempt, grounded in dirt, frayed threads, torn edges. He wished he had the courage to do away with those as well.
“I shall get us both tea.”
“It is a servant’s duty to bring tea, Hisana.”
She smiled softly. “But it is a wife’s duty to care for her husband’s needs.”
She bowed again and Byakuya neatly reached out to pluck a stray leaf from its nest of silken black. “Hisana.”
“Yes, Byakuya-sama?”
Stop writing such painful letters, he wanted to say. Stop degrading yourself in such tattered clothing. Stop wandering those dangerous streets.
“…Did you not find her?”
Hisana eyes lowered. “No, I’m afraid not. But tomorrow… perhaps tomorrow I will.”
Sometimes he wished he had the courage to stop her from doing the things she did, but it would rip his heart to pieces to be so cruel.

Wait, *thinks* I can color it manually, duh. Oooh, need picture references blah blah blah color pencils blah blah blah xerox papers lots of blah blah blah... *mumbles mumbles*
