Yeah, Kai's the bleeding heart of the series, no matter what anyone else may say. Of course, he also tends to nap in trees, so most everyone else thinks the entire 'I was saving an ungrateful creature from a tree' is just a cover for his lack of balance.

Cowlan: Alright, this is the last time you come in here all scraped up. I don't care if it's got guardrails and grows out of marshmallows- you're no longer allowed up any trees! Barome, Garland, you're hereby authorized to use force if he triest to climb another tree.

Gunny wouldn't have a problem with Kai sleeping in treessaving disgruntled kitties if he keep getting hurt in the process (he left bloodstains on the gunny's chair once o.O;;)
