[challenge] Stump Me

Suzuna was a strange girl. The first time she met Hiruma and watched him simultaneously shoot up, curse out and beat the crap out of Sena she thought he was an awesome guy. He, she thought, was a guy you could respect. He didn’t let anyone push him around, he demanded only the best from others and even that wasn’t good enough. Things like ‘off limits’ and ‘inconsiderate’ where defined in his dictionary as ‘things that happened to other people’.

Oh, she loved Natsuhiko. He was her brother and she did everything she could for him. But there was no denying she thought Hiruma was the ultimate older brother. It was only natural, therefore, when she was giving the older members nicknames, that his would be You-ni.

Most of the other players were dumbfounded by this. Kurita and Musashi rather liked it as did Mamori- though she claimed to a lesser extent. But everyone let pass, for the most part. If Hiruma let her call him that, they certainly weren’t going to argue with it.

When Natsuhiko, having some how got the idea that it meant they were now family friends or whatever else went through his head, called him You-ni, everyone’s breath froze.

An arched brow jumped up and Hiruma said, “You sayin’ it is just creepy.”

Zaraki found himself in a bit of a conundrum. Everyone he knew was rather, well, ‘static’ in the way they were viewed by others. Kuchiki was a prick, Ichimaru was creepy and everyone hated Kurotsuchi. Even in his own division this was true: Yachiru was bubbly, Ikkaku an idiot and Yumichika gay.

So what he didn’t understand was how Unohana managed to not only calm people down just by being there but intimidate even his own men, moving between the two seamlessly. It was like a switch that either pointed to ‘serene’ or… ‘weird’.

He caught her once while she was in her ‘weird’ mood, shocked- genuinely shocked –to find that she even managed to put laid-back Kyouraku on edge when she was like that. Frowning, Zaraki had to ask, “How the hell can you go from nice to freakish like that?”

She smiled back brightly. “Natural talent.”

^^ <3 Thank you. It does strike me that very few of the captains have more than one dominant personality trait. Course, there's so many of them, and so much going on in SS at the time, that we don't see much of them, so that's hardly their fault.

But it amuses that we only see Unohana for brief points across the span of that arc, and yet she's got more dimension than, say, Komamura.

Least in my mind. Good job here! *tempted to try again and give you an HiruMamo prompt...*
