Hozukimaru bared his teeth. You think you can reach bankai? You think that I’ll submit to you?

“Fuck yeah.” Ikkaku panted, bleeding but standing. “You’ve been waitin’ for me to do this anyway.”

The spirit narrowed his eyes. What makes you say that, boy?

“‘Cuz I killed your owner and you let me wield you and you helped me get stronger and you’ve been waiting for a chance to show me what you can really do.”

I’ll kill you, boy. Hozukimaru’s jaws parted like a sea of broken glass. Many before you have died trying to achieve bankai. You will have the honor of joining them.

Ikkaku shifted his stance. “Nah. You wanna be released and I won’t let you. You’re mine and I ain’t gonna die by the likes of you.”

So we shall see. And, roaring like a blade slashing at the pillars of heaven, the spirit charged.

Hozukimaru gnashed in his mind. Release me! He howled. All these years you’ve buried me- let me loose!

Ikkaku gave a serpent’s grin, arms flexing under his blades. You wanna fly? He asked. We’ll fly. We’ll tear this sunnovabitch to pieces.

He told the Arrancar, “Let’s go.”

Eduardo smirked back. “Sure.”

They charged at each other like titans. The dragon danced along his blade and screamed into the sky, finally freed.

I love this. Love it. There's really no words, it's that good. Really well written. I love your Ikkaku. You write him better than anyone else I've ever read. Well, 'cept Kubo-sensei, course. But that's expected.

Thanks for the compliment, I've been wanting to pump this out for a while now but haven't gotten around to being satisfied enough with it before now. And you don't know how much it means to hear you say that. I can't help being partial- I'm pitiful, really :P

Always a joy to read your Ikkaku fics! He's quickly becoming my fav character too. Kubo-san is developing him so well! And, he is fun to write. Such a damn lovable and loyal thug! The last chapter of the manga was just perfect! It made my whole month XD
