My brain hit a wall today. And then decided to be weird. Both cases show, I'm sure.

Title: A Killer’s Name
Fandom: Bleach
Rating: G
Word Count: 327
Characters: Zaraki, 11th division
Summary: A rose by any other name is no longer a rose.

There was a time in every 11th division member’s life when stating their name to their opponent before the final blow wasn’t anything they cared about. There was a time when the thought of introducing yourself to a Hollow, especially the lower level ones, was considered absurd. Did they even understand language anyway?

But then they trained under Zaraki Kenpachi and he told everyone he ever came across his name, anyone that saw the rugged edge of his sword or feel the iron knuckles of his hands. They’d watch him fight and at first they’d be amazed that he’d tell his name to something that was going to be dead in one hit. And no matter how they looked at it, it was kind of weird.

And sometimes the newer members would ask a senior why he did that, why everyone else would do that. And somewhere down the line someone had to have had the balls to ask their captain why he introduced himself. He probably didn’t answer them, but sometimes they’d give their own reasoning to the question.

He didn’t say it’s because the name would be the last real thing they’d remember, the death sentence that sent them to the next beyond. He didn’t say that a name gave you bragging rights, that a name would make people weep or that a name gave you power over those whose names you didn’t know, that a name was what made people really recognize and remember you. He didn’t say anything but he didn’t have to.

To everyone else a name wasn’t as precious as it was to someone that suffered the pain of being a nameless face, drifting and unimportant. But they carried his same tradition and to them those that didn’t see a point in stating their name- in proving of their own existence –were already dead.

And they were just helping them find their way with a name branded as their death note.

Thank you^^ I actually forgot about his being nameless too until- in a fit of my brain thinking weird -actually made the connection.

You really shouldn't be so jealous, it's just me being uncreative, really^^;; I'm the one jealous of you actual writing talent.
