Summary: Touma’s a night-sky bunny. And Seiji’s (unwillingly) along for the ride.

It was far too cold to be having the window open this time of year except that Seiji didn’t have the will to get himself out of his passably warm bed, trudge across icy wooden floors and bare himself to the winds of a mid-November midnight despite the fact his brain said it would do him better in the long run.

If he just focused, he could ignore the cold like he did whenever he went into the woods to meditate during an early morning snowfall. But, no. He was tired, he wanted sleep. And he wanted Touma to stop his excited chatter on the roof, come inside and close the thrice-dammed window.

“Hey, Seiji!” He called down for the fifth time that hour. “You should REALLY come up and see this! It’s amazing!”

Seiji grumbled something unintelligible and burrowed deeper in his blanket. Outside, Touma went ‘whoa!’ and forgot he was trying to entice his roommate onto the 9th level of hell known as the rooftop.

For a long while, silence reigned and Seiji checked the clock. He tried to sleep again, but the cold was starting to expand from his toes to his ankles. After another long while, he checked the clock again.

It’s been over twenty minutes since he last heard anything from Touma. Seiji frowned. That idiot wouldn’t have fallen asleep on the roof, would he? But, then again, he wouldn’t put it past that eccentric star-geek. Not after seeing him reading at the dinning table and completely ignore the fact that there was a hot meal in front of him and that he hadn’t eaten all day and then totally miss Nasuti putting the food into the fridge when it got cold.

Cursing to himself, Seiji huddled to his feet, putting on three pairs of heavy socks, another long-sleeved shirt, a thick sweater and two pairs of sweatpants before he and the comforter made their way to the window.

He gauged the angle of attack, getting from window ledge to rooftop and came to the depressing conclusion that the comforter wouldn’t make it. A number of minutes were spent grappling with edges and distance and the fact that his fingers were sticking to the gutter, but eventually Seiji conquered the obstacle and pulled himself onto the tiles. A distance part of him noted that he wasn’t as cold as before. Another noted that it wouldn’t last.

“Touma.” He called out, rubbing his sides and wished he brought gloves. “Touma, I hope you’re not asleep.”

The blue-haired boy propped himself up on his elbows and Seiji thought he looked all too comfortable lying on the roof. Despite the flush that darkened his cheeks and nose and ears, Touma grinned like it wasn’t close to winter.

“Seiji! You came!”

“I suppose. What am I supposed to be here for?”

Touma patted the roof beside him, but Seiji made no move to sit. “All right. If you want to strain your neck.” He flopped onto his back, hands under his head. It was then Seiji noticed that he had a winter coat on and had his own comforter laid out under him. Seiji rolled his eyes.

“Just tell me what I’m supposed to be looking at.”

“Those.”

He followed the direction of Touma’s hand and saw the night sky. He narrowed his eyes, wondering what made this sky so different when he saw something flash. Then another flash. And several more after.

“Leonids.” Touma said softly at his feet. “Debris from a comet that crosses the earth’s orbit. Every year during November they burn up in the atmosphere. Sometimes there’s as much as thirty meteors an hour.” He moved his hand over to a patch of stars. “To early astronomers, it looked like the meteors were coming from the constellation Leo, that’s why they’re called Leonid Showers.”

Seiji dropped his gaze and rotated his neck. He found Touma grinning up at him. “Pretty cool, huh?” He asked the blonde. “The comet passes by every 33 years. In a few more years, it’ll be back again and then the Leonids will be even more intense.”

“Very nice.” He said dryly. And it was amazing, but he was tired and starting to shiver. “I’m going to bed. And I’m going to close the window, so you better come inside, too.”

But Touma waved his hand. “Don’t worry about it. I have the key to the front door. You go on.”

Seiji frowned, but shrugged. And then went to the ledge. Where he found that going back inside was slightly more inaccessible than coming out. Meaning it probably wasn’t something he should try without having at least his under armor on.

“Um, Touma?”

“Hm?”

“How do you get down?”

Blinking, Touma got back onto his elbows. “I dunno. How’d you get up here?”

He raised a fine eyebrow. “I climbed?”

“You climbed? Out the window? Without… a rope, or a ladder or anything?”

“More or less.”

Touma fell on his back laughing. “Man! You’re more limber than I thought!”

Seiji’s hackles rose. “Well, how did YOU get up here?”

“This thing, of course!” He pulled his orb from his pocket and it glowed faintly under the flashes of the meteors. “I don’t go anywhere without it.”

Seiji snorted, huddling in on himself. Touma watched him with a mixture of amusement and pity. “Tell you what.” He said, sitting upright. “You stay out here with me for another ten minutes, we can go inside together. Deal?”

The other boy sniffed and frowned. “Only if you share some of that blanket.”

Touma grinned. “No problem.”

They lay back on the roof, wrapped tightly together under the heavy comforter. Seiji, finally warm for the first time that night, fell asleep, cushioned on Touma’s shoulder.

Awww! Seiji and Touma and watching the stars and I could practically feel the crisp coldness of the night and Touma would be so beautiful against the night sky and I love Seiji just climbing when Touma had to fly and now I'm all fluffy happiness. <3

Thank you!^^

I haven't touched any of the boys in YEARS, so I was a little wary coming into it. But then, I decided to go the safe route because whenever I think of Touma, I always think of a clear night sky. I was just lucky that Seiji decided to cooperate with me :P

Uwa~ Samurai Troopers fic! ♥

Blinking, Touma got back onto his elbows. “I dunno. How’d you get up here?”
I can just see him, studying Seiji with an expression like "o_O?", having not noticed the details of his friend's arrival via the gutter...

They lay back on the roof, wrapped tightly together under the heavy comforter. Seiji, finally warm for the first time that night, fell asleep, cushioned on Touma’s shoulder.
^^! Poor tired Seiji.

I don't know why Seiji was so tired, but Touma with a o_O? face amuses me so^-^

I just noticed that you have YST listed as an interest, and so I thought I'd do a quick check to see if you've done anything with them. I squee'd when I found this. Man, I haven't read a good Trooper fic in a while.

I love this(especially since it's got geeky!Touma in it!), and you caught them both perfectly.
