Summary: Ten Ten. Neji. A cinnamon cookie. Lee plays peacemaker.
“I want it.”
“No.”
“I want it.”
“No.”
Neji’s left eyebrow started to twitch. “I helped Hinata-sama make it. I should be allowed to have it.”
Ten Ten glared right back at him. “Your Hinata-sama made it for MY birthday. It’s MINE.”
Normally something like this would be far beneath Neji but, dammit, he was well in his rights to claim it. He helped to make it because Hinata-sama was a little clumsy in the kitchen. He had gotten the ingredients and he helped to knead it and cut out the shapes and he had to smell the delicious cinnamon baking and filling the house and he had to help Hinata-sama clean up the frosting when it got everywhere and he- “I didn’t even get one piece.” He told her plainly. “You ate the rest of it, I should be able to have the last one.”
“The last piece is always the best. Since you helped make it, why don’t you make your own batch?”
“Because that’s a girl’s-“ Neji’s jaw clicked shut and Ten Ten’s glare increase.
“What was that?” She asked icily.
“…” He said. “I want it.”
Ten Ten huffed at him, the only thing baring her way to her last birthday cookie that was rightfully hers thank you very much. She had tried various ways to get around him but every attempted distraction was refuted by the Byakugan and he easily matched all her sideways movements to the centimeter.
Finally she said, “Fine. I’ll fight you for it.”
Neji blinked. “What?”
“I’ll fight you for it.”
“Ten Ten, it’s just a cookie.”
“Then give it up.”
“…” Neji got into his stance. “Don’t get upset if you get hurt.”
“Me?” She laughed. “Ha! Don’t insult me! Just for that, I’m attacking FIRST!” Her hand flashed and Neji deftly ducked away from her kunai. And noticed she had a string in her hand.
“Damn!” He turned, the kunai sinking into the cookie. A quick jerk on the string sent the cookie arching over Neji’s head and he lashed out with his own shuriken.
The string snapped.
“Ah!” The cookie flew well over Ten Ten’s reach and skidded across the floor.
Where it came to a stop by Lee’s foot.
“Oh, a cookie!” He cheered. “I knew adding another 200 laps to my training would bring me good luck!” And promptly shoved half the cookie in his mouth.
Neji snarled. “Lee, damn you-”
“You jerk, Neji!” Ten Ten threw a punch at his head. “I can’t believe you!”
“That wasn’t my fault!”
“Argh! I hate you!”
“Ow! Ten Ten, would you- ow!”
Lee sighed, nibbling on the crumbs in his hand. His teammates were so weird.
