Because I love Asuma and Kurenai too much to do something like my last challenge response and not do something NICE as an apology.

naruto100’s Underneath the Underneath challenge
Summary: To make up for my last ficlet. And because you so know they are.
Poker nights weren’t always held in private dwellings. Not until they realized playing at bars got other ninja into it and things started getting… ‘competitive’. They tried rotating whose house it was held at but after it was obvious Kakashi wasn’t a good housekeeper and Anko’s place tended to traumatize people and Iruka’s was much too small due to lack of hazard pay.
Tonight it was held at Kurenai’s place. Which, for some reason, meant it was going to be a short night.
Which was fine because half their group was out on missions anyway and Iruka- worn out by a new class of undisciplined tykes –was starting to nod off.
“Maybe it’s time to call it quits.” Kurenai said. “I think we’ve all had a long day.”
“Not so much.” Kakashi replied. “The night’s still young.”
“I think Iruka-sensei’s going to fall asleep.” Iruka stirred mildly at his name.
“It’s not too late for all of us.” Asuma said pointedly. “Some of us just need to… ‘unwind’ a bit.”
“That sounds good. Maybe another hand or two.” Kakashi agreed.
Kurenai gave him a LOOK. “No. I think it’s about time some of us,” here she gave Asuma a different sort of LOOK, “went to bed?”
At this, Kakashi looked thoughtful. “Actually, a little shut eye wouldn’t hurt.” He prodded Iruka. “Asuma-sensei, shall we get Iruka-sensei to bed?”
“Uh, er,” Asuma coughed slightly, “actually, I have some business to discuss with Kurenai-sensei.”
“She looks tired. I’m sure it can wait until morning.”
“Erm, I also don’t live around Iruka-sensei’s area.”
“Really? I don’t even know where he lives.”
The voices shook Iruka out of his half-conscious state. “Hm?”
Asuma heartily pounded him on the back. “Ah, Iruka-sensei! Awake enough to get yourself home, I trust?”
“Er, huh?”
“Glad to hear it!”
“Go on, Kakashi-sensei.” Kurenai said tersely. “Makes sure he gets home okay.”
Iruka blinked blearily while Kakashi just stretched out. “Maybe we both should just stay the night here. I’m pretty bushed myself.”
“No!” The other two jounin blurted out.
“Er, I mean,” Kurenai smoothed her hair out of habit. “I don’t have enough room for all of you.”
Asuma then added, “And Kurenai-sensei’s neighbors are rather nosey. Seeing three male adults leaving her home in the morning will get them talking.”
“Oh?” Kakashi asked, all innocence, “Is that how the rumor started with you, Asuma-sensei?”
Kurenai was riveted to her seat while Asuma spluttered and flailed. Iruka, having finally woken up enough to grasp the situation, pulled at Kakashi’s sleeve. “Kakashi-sensei,” he said in a voice reserved for students he desperately wanted not to hurt, “I think it would be a good idea if you helped me home.”
“Are you sure we can’t stay-“
He hissed quietly (though not quietly enough), “I think they want to be ALONE.”
“Ooooooh.” Kakashi said thoughtfully. “In that case, we shall see you later.” He smiled brightly at them as he and Iruka moved to the door. Then, pausing, he said, “You know, you could’ve just asked.” And promptly ducked a thrown pillow.
When they had turned the block, Iruka gave Kakashi a flat look. “You were doing that on purpose, weren’t you?”
Kakashi just grinned.
