The ending of this game made me sad. And mostly pissed, but I am now sad ;_;

Title: Fractured
Fandom: Star Wars: Republic Commando
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 470
Characters: Scorch, Fixer, Boss
Summary: End-of-game spoilers. Scorch angsts, Fixer and Boss can’t help.

All things considered, it was surprising Scorch lasted through the debriefing before he exploded. Throughout the talk he was jittery, growling under his breath and filling the room with an air of violence and anger.

The first thing he does once your squad was released was to slam a dent into a bulkhead. “I can’t fucking believe this!”

“Six-two, calm down.” You say, but you know he isn’t hearing you.

“How could they just pull us out like that?” He cries. “How could they just leave Sev back there!”

“Six-two-“ Fixer says, but is cut off when Scorch punches the wall again.

“How could they DO that to us?? Why the hell didn’t we stay down there?”

Fixer tries again. “We were ordered to pull out-“

“Fuck our orders!” Scorch roars. Down the hall a couple of low-ranking soldiers jump slightly and hurry back the other way. “Fuck them and whoever the hell think they own us! That’s our BROTHER down there!”

Fixer’s mannerism turns from straight-laced to gentle. “I know you’re upset, Scorch-“

He finds a glare fixed solely on him. “NO.” His jabbing finger backed Fixer against the opposite wall. “You don’t have any right to call me that.”

Your back straightens tightly. “Six-two-“

He continues unabated. “You were ready to leave him behind! You didn’t even give him a second thought!”

Fixer visibly pales. “Hey-“

“It’s always orders with you! What, you can’t think on your own? You think just ‘cause we’re clones we don’t deserve life like everyone one else? SEV is your BROTHER and you opt to leave him BEHIND!”

You slam Scorch against the wall so hard his teeth rattle and his armor creaks under your hand. “Calm the fuck down, Six-two,” you warn, “before I have you confined to quarters!” Your two remaining squad mates look at you, speechless. “I know you’re upset about Sev- we all are. But they pulled us out for a reason. He’s not lost, we’ll find him. But we can’t do that if command doesn’t trust us on any more missions.” You loosen your grip on his shoulder. “And if we start turning on each other, then we have no hope in saving him. All right, Scorch?”

He looks at you with eye wide and shining and you remember that Sev was his best friend and closest brother. And Sev was your confidence and the comfort in a tight spot and if Scorch didn’t break down first, you would have.

Tears spill down his face and he chokes, “It’s not fucking fair” before you pull his head into your shoulder.

No, it’s not, you think. And you see Fixer turn away with a hand to his face and his shoulders shaking and you grit your teeth. It’s not fair, but you’ll make it right. No matter the cost.

OMG

Totally! It's not fair. It's BS of the highest order.

I love their passion in here. It would tear them apart when they had to leave Sev behind. I wonder why KT just left that as a cliff hanger for the whole last novel.

Why didn't Scortch want Fixer to call him by his name instead of numbers?
