Mick and Len are around 18/16, Lisa is around 9. Just pure fluff.

Summary: Len teaches Mick to ice skate and Lisa's matchmaking needs work.
Lisa didn't know what to think about Mick. He was, well, weird for one. And he didn't seem particularly interested in making friends with her. Not that he was mean to her or anything, more like he didn't know how to act with her. Which was fine since she didn't know how to act with him, either. Plus he was bigger and stronger than Len and that intimidated her as much as she pretended it didn't. But Len seemed to like him for some reason. Enough that he introduced her to him which was the first in all her ten years so it must have been significant. Not to mention Mick watched out for Len in juvie so that alone made Lisa willing to try getting along with him.
With their father out doing whatever it was he did for days at a time, Len decided to take Lisa to the skating rink. Mick was brought along, too, though he looked dubious about the whole thing. Turned out he'd never gone skating before. So while Lisa was out doing tricks and turns and enjoying every second, Len was trying to help Mick stay upright.
It was pretty hilarious. All that height and muscle that intimidated Lisa just looked ungainly on a pair of blades. He was as wobbly as Bambi and Lisa didn't think she'd ever be able to find Mick scary again. He clung to Len's arm, his shoulders, his jacket- whatever was the closest thing he could reach whenever Len managed to get out of his grip.
What was surprising was Len. Not surprising as in Lisa didn't expect him to help Mick or even be patient about it. What was surprising was that he didn't seem to mind the way Mick clung to him or the fact the big guy couldn't go one inch on his own. He just dealt with it with a broad grin.
Lisa skated closer- somewhat miffed with the fact Len hadn't paid her one iota of attention from the moment Mick hit the ice. Their voices were low under the yelling and laughing ringing out from the people around them, but Lisa could make it out.
"You're going to fall, Mick," Len's voice was amused and even kind, "that's just the natural process of learning to skate."
"The process sucks." His legs wobbled and he grabbed Len, nearly taking the smaller boy down. "This sucks. Why am I here?"
"Because you have nothing better to do." Len rearranged them so he was holding Mick by the forearms. "I should've brought you kneepads."
"You just want to see me on my knees."
"I don't doubt I'll be seeing you on your back at some point today, too."
Mick punched Len's shoulder but they were both laughing so Lisa kept back, discreetly circling the two. There was something weird with her brother that she couldn't quite figure out and it was unnerving. It wasn't the smiling or the laughing or even how patiently he was coaxing Mick across the ice. It was something... more. Something under the skin and Lisa couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing yet.
Suddenly one of Mick's skate slid out from under him and he went down on one knee. His face would've hit the ice if it didn't hit Len's stomach instead, the younger boy smoothly intercepting the fall and only sliding bac and inch or two. He waited for Mick to get back on his feet before saying something that made him shove Len back, only to immediately fall on his ass. Len laughed, loudly, and went to help him up again and Lisa realized what was going on.
Lenny was in love.
Or something like it. She'd seen it once in real life, her 1st grade teacher's fiance making a surprise visit for his birthday with balloons and cupcakes for the whole class and Lisa watched the way they looked at each other. Her teacher couldn't stop looking at his fiance, warm and fond, even as he chided her for the disruption. And she just smiled back like she knew it was just a front.
Len only had a tiny fraction of that same look on his face but it was still there and he couldn't seem to look away from Mick even as the older boy started getting more confident on the ice. Lisa wanted to skate circles around them, squealing, but knew better than to draw that kind of attention. Len liked to pretend he didn't have any emotions outside of the care he gave Lisa and Mick... well, she still didn't know him.
She moved around them, weaving in and out of the crowd to look like she wasn't watching. Len was skating backwards- inching, really -and motioning for Mick to come at him like he was a toddler. After another misstep sent Mick into a sprawl, Len started patting his thighs and whistling as if calling a dog. Mick tried to lunge and only landing on his face. Len's laughter rang out and when Mick looked up, Lisa could see he was smiling.
Oh no, they were adorable.
Lisa waited until Len slid back to Mick's side, helping him to his feet. They stayed close as Mick's balance wobbled and, very carefully, ensuring she wasn't seen- not that she had to try very hard, it was obvious Len currently only had eyes for Mick -snuck up behind Mick and pushed.
She shoved extra hard because Mick was so much bigger than her but she might've overdid it. The force coupled with the fact that he was also much heavier than her brother caused them to not only collide roughly but made them go crashing down loud enough to freeze everyone in the place. Lisa's hands went up to her face- that wasn't how it went in movies!
She skated around to their heads. "Lenny! Lenny, are you okay? I'm so sorry!"
"Lisa," she knew that tone. She was in trouble. Len winced and rubbed at the side of his head. "Fuck. Mick- you okay?"
The larger boy groaned and slowly picked himself up off Len and the ice. He put a hand to his face and when he pulled it back there was blood on his fingers. Lisa's lips wobbled. Mick turned to Len, only mildly annoyed. "Is that coming from my nose or did I lose a tooth?"
"Your nose. C'mon, let's get you off the ice." Len glared at Lisa when she tried to keep Mick steady on the other side- which, really, if he fell he would've squashed her -so she hung back. One of the staff met them halfway with a first aid kit and helped Len bring Mick to one of the benches. Lisa stayed on the ice, hugging the wall and biting her lip.
She might've ruined everything. What if Mick hated her now? Even if he was sort of in love, Lisa didn't doubt that Len would break up with anyone who didn't like his little sister. He was that kind of stupid older brother, even if she did love him for it.
The staff worker prodded a bit while Len got a couple wads of napkins from the nearby snack bar. He returned just as Mick waved off the worker. Len flitted around him, looking distressed- and adding to Lisa's distress -while Mick rolled his eyes. He tilted his head back, pinching a couple napkins to his face. "Just a bloody nose. 'S not even broken."
"Head forward," Len's voice was tight. "Or blood'll drip down your throat and make you sick."
Mick complied with another eyeroll. He caught sight of Lisa's face- pale, wide-eyed and worried -and said loud enough for her to hear, "C'mon Lenny. You've given me worse in bed."
Her brother's cheeks flushed. "Don't say it like that, idiot!"
"What," Mick tilted his head to grin at Len sideways, "something wrong with a little late night cuddling?"
"Don't be a dick."
"Speaking of," his gaze flickered to eye level and, coincidentally, at Len's belt, "no comments this time?"
Len facepalmed. "Mick." But he sat on the bench next to Mick, pretending his face wasn't bright red.
Mick bumped their shoulders together. "Chill out, Lenny. This is nothing to get worked up over."
His lips instinctively twitched at the pun but Len was still a far cry from relaxed. "You weren't supposed to get hurt."
"Maybe next time I'll wear a goalie mask."
"But still no kneepads?"
"Oh, so we are still making those jokes."
Len finally broke out in another grin, shoving Mick's shoulder and Mick just grinned back. Lisa quietly slipped away, back toward the middle of the ice. She didn't know Mick that well, but she was pretty certain he was looking at her brother with the same fondness Len did. She'd have to work on her matchmaking skills, though. Sure, there was a chance they'd hook up without her encouragement but it'd probably take much longer and less fun.
She checked in on them every once in a while, still sitting close together, heads ducked in so they were practically breathing the same air. Lisa bit her lip every time she saw them. This was definitely the beginnings of love.
Eventually Len began making his way toward the ice and Lisa pretended she hadn't been watching. When Len finally caught up to her again, she twirled around until she could look at him while skating backwards. "I like Mick," she said without prompting. "You should keep him."
He looked over his shoulder to where Mick was leaning against the sideboards, no longer holding a tissue to his nose so Lisa could see the warm curve of his lips. Len smiled that small, fond little smile that made Lisa internally squeal. "I think I will."
