Summary: More character exploring for Wash Wednesday.
He could go off a holographic model if he wanted to but there was something immensly satisfying about knowing things because he knew them over knowing because something told it to him. From Boneyard it was to the northwest, ten degrees above the horizon. On Paradise Falls, it was in between the two stars that made up Cygnus’s tail. On the Mother of Invention the position changed constantly and due to the position of the sun, it was unviewable from Anchor 9 for a majority of the year.
Wash didn’t actually know why knowing Earth’s location was so important to him; a planet he’d never actually set foot on but still had embedded under his fingernails and packed into the marrows of his bones just like any other human. It was his goal, in a way. The pole that guided his compass. Wash was determined to protect the Earth at all cost and so long as he knew where the planet was, he knew what actions he needed to take to keep it safe.
