Fandom: Red vs Blue
Rating: PG-13 for language
Word Count: 845
Characters: Sister, Carolina
Summary: A spontaneous sequel to A Gentleman Never Tells (porn warning). Sister's good intentions don't go as well as intended.

The only time Carolina didn't seem to be yelling at anyone or in some sort of cop meeting or screwing Tucker, she was off on some cliff or other doing whatever it was she did. Sister didn't know and she didn't actually care because caring would mean having to go all the way up there to see what Carolina was up to and why do that when everyone else was down in the canyon doing stuff? But whatevs- she actually had something to give Carolina now so, you know. Guess she had to do it. Probably wouldn't be the kind of thing to give to a person when they're snarling someone into submission (and it was kinda hot and if they ever got back to Earth, Sister was going to suggest Carolina get a job as a dominatrix because she'd probably be really, really good at it). Sister hoofed it up the cliff, pausing to catch her breath because holy crap that was a climb and if she wasn't so determined to do this, Sister would've been watching tv with Dexter while that one old dude yelled about stuff she didn't know.

“Hey!” Sister called out before having to brace her hands on her knees to catch her breath. That's it- next time she had to give something to Carolina, it was happening in the canyon, Tucker being balls deep in her or not. “Hey, Carolina!” When there was no reply, Sister charged on ahead, coming to a stop when she could elbow Carolina's arm. Sister didn't get why everyone was so afraid of her, Carolina was just another chick. Chyeah, she was a crazy chick but c'mon. It wasn't like she didn't beat down on people that didn't deserve it. Or probably deserved it. Or whatever.

When Carolina turned her head, helmet off, to look at Sister in that silent glare thing she was really good at, Sister just took Carolina's wrist, lifted it up and put something in her hand. “Got somethin' for ya!”

The little silver packet crinkled as Carolina's fingers flexed. “What is this?”

“It's one of those peppermint patty things. Since, ya know, you were goin' on about 'em the other night which was kind of a weird time to get cravings for mints but whatever. Cravings are cravings. So I traded some glitter to Donut for 'em and now you got your mints!”

Carolina was quiet for a long, long while, like she was just reading the name of the thing over and over again which was pretty weird because it wasn't like it was a difficult thing to read, just four letters in the brand and 'peppermint patty' under it. When she spoke, though, it was the same kind of quiet anger Dexter had when he found out Mom wasn't coming back. “Is this a joke?”

“What?”

“Are you fucking joking with me?”

“If you don't want it, I'll take it. Geez, don't have a heart attack or something.”

Carolina grabbed her wrist, hard enough Sister could feel it through her armor. Okay, so maybe she was as crazy as everyone thought she was. Ow, what the hell? “Are you fucking joking with me?”

“I thought I'd do something nice for you but if you're gonna be such a bitch about it, forget it! It's just a mint!”

Carolina let go but her expression didn't change as she said in something almost like a growl, “I hate mints.”

“Well if you weren't talking about that, then what were you-” And then Sister got it. It was like combining all her girlfriends that got hung up on some guy or another and then amping it up, like, a gajillion. “Oh.”

They both turned to look over the cliff and Sister tried not to notice the way Carolina looked like she was about to cry because Sister didn't know how to deal with that. She never got heartbroken over anyone since she was, like, little and couldn't imagine what it'd be like to lose someone she loved. Not even when Dexter was sent away she didn't feel bad because the moment the thrill of being alone wore off and she started feeling lonely, Sister joined up and did what she could to find him again. And Carolina was like way more determined and capable and stuff than Sister was so if she couldn't find her own guy then he was probably gone forever and that was really sad and that was probably why she was crazy and angry all the time.

Eventually Sister felt it was awkward enough to say something. “Bet mints tastes better than he did.”

That actually got a snort-laugh out of Carolina and she was looking at the thing in her hand again, not nearly as angry, almost fondly, even. “He'd laugh his ass off about this.”

“Sounds like he was awesome.”

Carolina closed her fingers on the package and put it in a pocket. “Yeah. He was.”

Poor Sister, she tried. At least Carolina didn't chuck her off the cliff!

It's so easy to imagine York laughing his ass off at the whole situation, Sister thinking candy not freelancer, and her tension breaker.
