Title: Your Own Personal Murphy
Fandom: Sealab 2021
Rating: PG? I guess?
Word Count: 562
Characters: Murphy, Sparks and Marco
Summary: This is why people do not allow me to get bored. The occasional series in-jokes, but just the usual people being stupid.

When Murphy walked onto the deck, the first thing he heard was: “I couldn’t do that without wanting to kill myself.”

“Kill yourself? But it’s you!”

“I know. And I’d want to kill myself.”

The two in question were Sparks (who seemed permanently glued to his station) and Mailbox Head (Marco). Murphy didn’t normally like Mailbox Head on a good day and whenever he and Sparks were alone they always talked about things that made Murphy’s head hurt. More than normal, anyway.

The captain, looking captainly, came up next to them as said, “What’re you talking about?”

As per usual they continued their conversation as if Murphy did not exist.

“Why would you want to kill yourself?”

“You know what you act like, you know what you like to do and suddenly you start butting into your own personal dealings.”

Murphy was starting to get used to not existing.

“That didn’t make sense!”

“Well, I’m in the business of taking over the world, right? Then I /also/ want to start taking over the world so it’ll wind up being a civil world war with myself.”

“Oh.”

Then Murphy decided he didn’t /like/ not existing. “What the HELL are you talking about?!”

The two men looked up at their captain. “Oh, hi Skipper.” Sparks said. “Marco was asking me if I wanted to be cloned.”

“Cloned?”

“Yeah, and get this,” Marco butted in, “he said ‘no’ because he’d have to fight with his clone, can you believe that?”

“Cloned?” Murphy asked again. “You mean, having more than one you around?”

“He’ll be exactly like you. Look like you, act like you-“

“Be taken advantage of like you.”

Sparks pointedly ignored that. “Exactly the same.”

“Oh, that’s boring.” Murphy told them. “Now, if my clone was a /woman/-“

Marco looked at Sparks. “Didn’t we go through this with the robots?”

The other man shrugged. “He likes his D-cups of Justice.”

“Oh!” Marco snapped his fingers. “What if you could have clones of someone else!”

“Multiple someone elses?”

“Yeah! Like, like multiple Debbies!”

“Nah,” Sparks waved it off. “You’d have a major population boom, then.”

“How ‘bout multiple…. Er….” Marco paused to think. Murphy, babbling in the background about his multitudes of cloned female selves, broke in with:

“-beautiful, big breasted, nothing would stand in their way and I’d be their slave boy and after every victory over evil they’d come over and say, ‘Slave boy!’ and I’d be going ‘Yes, ma’ams?’ and they’d-“

“Why /not/ clones of Murphy?”

Marco blinked. “You actually /want/ multiple Murphies?”

“Why not? You get in a bad mood and you could kill him off, but you don’t have to worry about wasting him because there’ll always be more.”

“Hey, yeah! Everyone could kill him or torture him any way they want!”

“There could be a Murphy for everyone. A Personal Murphy™!”

“You could make a fortune off that!”

Murphy broke in yet again: “-and they’d break my bones with their spiked heels and drive sharp pointy objects into my body and I’d say ‘May I have some more’-“

Sparks looked at Murphy for a moment and then back at Marco. “Get Quinn to set something up quick or there won’t be a Murphy to clone.”

“Gottcha!”

Turning up the radio to drown out the inane babbling of Captain Murphy, Sparks settled back in his chair. “Marco’s definitely henchman material….”
