So someone on /coq/ suggested doing a NaNoWriMo substitute in which one does a drabble a day instead of doing the massive, well, massive NaNoWriMo thing. It seemed like fun and thus- 30 Days of Boostle!
Title: Out in the Cold
Fandom: DCU
Rating: PG
Word Count: 315
Characters: Booster, Ted
In Response to: 30 days of Boostle - stargazing
Summary: Recycled plot- two guys, a late fall meteor shower and a blanket. What more do you want?
The wind wasn't particularly strong, but it was constant and Booster was tempted to spend his time inside the Bug rather than on top of it. "I thought you were a city boy," he groused, attempting to get comfortable on the hard metal. "You know- nature hater and everything."
"Pfft," Ted just waved a hand, leaning back on his elbows and eyes to the dark sky. "This isn't nature- it's space. Totally different."
"Of course, how silly of me." He laid out next to his best friend all the same, pulling a blanket up to his chin and watching as meteors streaked across the sky. They were nice, but not worth freezing his ass off so close to winter. A sidelong look, however, proved Ted to be absolutely captivated. So much that he didn't notice his cheeks and nose growing dark or his breath puffing in front of him.
Booster made the executive decision of scooting closer to Ted and it wasn't until he was practically curled against his side did Ted notice. "What're you doing?"
"I'm cold."
"You have a blanket."
"And you don't which probably means you're getting hypothermia or something."
That seemed to snap some awareness back into Ted who promptly began to shiver. "'S not that cold."
"Course not." Booster lifted the edge of the blanket, raising a teasing eyebrow. "Share anyway?"
There was just a moment of hesitation then Ted slid into the nice, warm space. "Alright. But don't go making a big deal out of this."
Booster couldn't help a grin. "Deal." Just as he promised, Booster didn't make a big deal out of Ted wriggling against him to get comfortable, co-opting Booster's arm for a pillow while he was at it. And when Booster fell asleep with his face pressed against the crook of Ted's neck, Ted didn't make a make a big deal out of that, either.
