Title: Wait One Day More

meallanmouse, prompt: Laboon + growing up
Summary: Since Wills has been sick and wasn’t having a good day, I offered to do some drabbles to cheer her up (of course, this one came out sad, go me T.T;;).
The sea isn't so bad over here. It's cool and clear and there's plenty to eat. He likes to play in the currents and chase the sparkling sun on the waves. He likes exploring the crevices around Reverse Mountain and see what fun little creatures are in the dark. But he doesn't go too far. Laboon is always careful to stay near the river.
It's been over twenty years (so the flower man told Laboon, so Laboon thinks so too) so his friends should be coming back for him at any moment. Flower man came back from his own trip around the Grand Line with some pirates, so Laboon's pirates must be coming, too.
Laboon sings his favorite song in to the ocean and it's not the same without everyone singing it, but he thinks they must be singing it whereever they are, so it's almost the same. He sings and plays in the water and waits happily for the next ship to come down from the mountain because he knows the next one has his friends.
Flower man seems so sad since coming back from his trip and every time he looks at Laboon he seems even sadder. Laboon sings to try to cheer him up- because the song has always cheered him up before -but that just makes Flower man even more sad and he goes into his lighthouse.
Laboon wonders what his captain would do. He wonders what Brook would do. They could make anyone happy. Laboon hopes they won't be mad that he can't make Flower man happy. So he dives and plays and hopes he can find something to make Flower man happy.
Other whales are swimming by like they do every year. They ask Laboon if he wants to travel with them, but he says he can't. He's waiting for his friends to come back. He knows they will. They promised. They promised and he'll wait for them there forever.
As the whales pass, Laboon comes up to the surface, hoping he didn't miss their ship when he talked to them. Flower man is standing on the shore and just looks at Laboon. Laboon tilts his head to one side to look back.
"Laboon," Flower man says slowly and he doesn't look happy at all, "I have something important to tell you..."
