So I was trying to get proficient in using my new markers and trying to find a way to blend marker and colored pencil. That was about a week before I moved so I didn't get much experimenting done, but at least I have an idea on the exact colors I want to use for the three main characters. And then, for a while, my scanner wouldn't work, and then, after it worked enough to scan things in, I moved. So now it's all being put up now.

Kai

If you'll remember some time back I put up a sketch of this very picture. One of the first things I ended up coloring so there's some coloring issues I have with it. Overall, though, I rather like it. I should've gone with colored pencil instead of marker for the scrapes, though. Now, instead of looking like he fell out of a tree with a disgruntled kitten, he looks like he went through an abattoir.

Third

Unable to come up with an idea to draw, I went to a random verb generator and ended up getting the word 'swing'. And Third, being the childish, easy-going guy he is, wanted a tire swing. I am very bad at drawing tires. The foreward arm could've used more work and I should've went with more detail in the rope and, looking at the scan, I could've gone darker with the shading on the overshirt (which was done with colored pencil). My main beef is with his skin-tone, which I realized the error of how I was doing it after I laid out the base color. Oh well, live and learn, I suppose.

Tio

Ugh, I have so many problems with this particular coloring because of two main things that frustrated me to no end when I realized it. One, the deco peach marker that I use for his particular skin tone was dying so the coloring came out uneven. Two, the clear blender I used was also dying, so the shadows are all harsh, cell-shaded type (as opposed to the smoother transition of the other two pictures) and there's very little or uneven highlights in his shirt, couch and skin. In fact, the highlights you DO see is from a white colored pencil I used in an attempt to salvage this. I also have a slight beef with his hair (as i was coloring it i realized it was too light a blonde and tried to remedy that and merely made it worse), his shoes and a little with his pants. Because I remembered, after I had finished this, that I have OTHER markers that aren't Prisma Color, but THEY have various shades of gray. Which would've looked much better and more natural with the rest of the picture.

These will end up being my last colored pictures in a while. At least until my stuff comes in and I buy a new clear blender and deco peach. Maybe even a few new flesh tones and grays as well.
