Summary: Some people can never be kept apart. Official word or not.

There he was for the third day in a row. Booster had never noticed him before but the first time he did, he didn't know how he missed the guy in the first place. Especially with the newsboy caps and lime-green sneakers (where did he even find those? And how in the multiverse was there a matching tie?)

After she was done teasing Booster about his apparent 'crush', Beatriz kept needling him to talk to this strange, auburn haired man. Tora, when she found out, thought it was all very cute and romantic. She suggested- based on the spiritual beliefs of her people -that Booster and this man could be lost souls meant to find each other. Booster had scoffed at the idea saying fate was taking a hell of a gamble seeing as Booster was born centuries in the future.

Tora just looked at him and said pointedly, "And yet you're here now and so is he. Things worked out the way they were supposed to."

He couldn't deny there was a logic to that so Booster chewed on the thought for a day and now, with a newspaper under his arm and a freshly served cup of coffee in hand he turned to the table with the mystery man that haunted his mind for the last couple of days.

Thankful for the mid-afternoon rush, Booster strode up to the man and asked, "Mind if I sit?"

Startled, the man looked up from his tablet. Booster had never seen that kind of blue in eyes before. "Huh? Oh! No, no- help yourself."

As the man shuffled some of his things out of Booster's way, Booster took the seat with a smile, "Thanks."

And, now that he was there, he had no idea what to say. So he sat and pretended to read his paper, all the while aware of the silence and space between them that felt... electric. Like there was something there that was desperate to be acknowledged. And apparently Booster wasn't the only one that felt it because the man next to him kept sneaking glances. Which Booster only noticed because he kept trying to sneak glances.

By the third time their eyes met, the man gave an embarrassed chuckle and set his tablet aside, "Okay, this is probably going to sound really creepy but I... I think I know you from somewhere."

Booster couldn't help a little smile from crossing his lips, folding his paper and putting it down. "Actually, I have the same feeling."

"Yeah?" The man smiled in return and that electric feeling seemed to swell and calm simultaneously. Like this was what it wanted and it wanted more. A hand was held out Booster, "I'm Ted Kord."

Booster, caught up in that smile and those eyes, had to pause to remember his name, "Michael. Carter."

Ted's hand was warm and rough and felt perfect in Booster's. When it pulled away, Ted propped his elbow on the table and his cheek on his knuckles. "The name doesn't ring any bells..."

"Well, I do come in here regularly..."

"No, it's not that," and though Ted's open expression didn't change, Booster could feel an added weight to his words and gaze, "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't forget a man like you."

A thrill shot through Booster's chest. He leaned in a little closer, smiled a little wider and said, "I try to be unforgettable."

Booster strode into the meeting room where half the team was already assembling. He told them, not caring how stupidly happy his grin was or how much Batman was glaring, "I don't care if there's an invasion of space aliens, rampaging genetically engineered monsters or a plague of zombies- you guys are going to have to face this Saturday without me because I've got a date!"
