Summary: A joke slightly astray. Or rather, ‘not got’.
The day had started off well enough on the subway going to their next match, when the team started telling jokes. Oh, it hadn’t been bad. There was a point where the jokes started to get a little raunchy but Hiruma lightly pointed out that the manager was starting to get a little red. Then Mamori pointed out that the team captain was the one doing the worst of the jokes to which Hiruma told her if she wanted she could travel with the cheerleaders instead.
However, things started getting bad when Kuroki told the joke ‘a dyslexic guy walks into a bra’ and left it at that. He got snickers and a few groans for that, but the problem came when apparently Monta didn’t know what dyslexic meant.
When questioned about the puzzled look on his face, Monta said, “Of course I get it!” And looked away in a huff.
And then came the actual game.
Mind still wrapped up in trying to get the joke, Monta was making mistakes left and right up until the point Hiruma couldn’t keep shooting at him for thought of actually permanently injuring the fucking monkey. So instead he called a time out, took Monta aside and explained the joke in a little words and short syllables as possible. He didn’t let the receiver go until he was certain he could focus again.
Then he started abusing the hell out of Kuroki for starting that stupid joke.
After the game (to which they won, no thanks to one distracted receiver), Hiruma told them if anyone said one more joke before a game again, he’d have them clean Keroberos’ cage for a month. And after that threat, Monta went up to Kuroki and told him, “That joke wasn’t funny.”
Kuroki just reached out and smacked him upside the head.
